To be honest, Branson is an amazing place to live year-round, but during the Branson holidays, it truly shines! The snowy winterscape gives our hustling and bustling town the charming look of a cheerful village straight out of your favorite children’s book, with snow topped mountains standing guard in the background, Christmas lights twinkling on wood and stone houses, and residents and tourists smiling and waving as they pass each other in the streets, garbed in colorful winter coats. Postcard perfect, Branson is always breathtaking, but during the holidays, we can’t imagine wanting to be anywhere else but right here in the heart of the Ozarks.
Branson, Missouri is a town with more Christmas spirit than any other place in the world—except for the North Pole, of course! Step back in time with an Old-Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City, our world-famous 18th century theme park that truly comes alive during the holidays. Featuring over five million Christmas lights, 1000 exquisitely decorated Christmas trees, and the Holly Jolly Christmas Parade, Silver Dollar City may be just a tad more spirited than Santa’s home, but let’s keep that a secret, shall we? We don’t want to end up on the naughty list!
Celebrating the reason for the season, the Adoration Parade is Branson’s oldest holiday tradition. Taking place the first Sunday in December, the parade begins with the lighting of the Adoration Scene atop Mount Branson, after which it winds down the mountain and around Branson, bringing cheer, beauty, and peace to all. The Adoration Scene was originally built in 1949. It was refurbished to its former glory in 2012.
Finally, we are known for our extraordinary shows throughout the year, but did you know that during the holidays, Branson is also famous for its variety of Christmas-themed extravaganzas? Come view a musical interpretation of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” sing along to country versions of your favorite Christmas Carols at “Clay Cooper’s Country Express Christmas,” or simply enjoy the Best Christmas Show in Branson, “The Hughes Brothers Christmas Show,” where Santa and baby Jesus live in peaceful harmony.
